“I think it's good to look at things from another perspective. The finality of this dispute is that today things are going according to the schedule, that the authorization was signed by the mayor Nicușor Dan, all the bases and stages you saw were related to, on the one hand, the desire of the City Hall of Sector 4 to start the works as soon as possible, on the other hand, the desire that the Capital City Hall had to ensure that all the documents were All right. This one discussion finally was a constructive oneresulting in results. It was not a sterile dispute, a cheap argument between two people”said Daniel Băluță in an interview with Adevărul.

According to the mayor, “there is only one winner. The city won from this dispute. It was not a battle of vanities. No one did this for applause, but everyone had their own way of expressing what their conscience dictates. On the one hand the urgency and on the other hand the desire to make sure that all the documents are consistent and in line with expectations”.

He also commented on the statement of former head of state Traian Băsescu, who said that “that money should have been given to the Capital City Hall, not to a sector town hall”.

“With all due respect to Mr. Traian Băsescu, it is an error and he is certainly aware of this aspect. The respective money is not the pole and center of this discussion”said the mayor of Sector 4, Daniel Băluță.

He explained that the real problem is related to the way the work was carried out and the collaboration between the institutions: “The main problem was the following and the timeline is as follows. The first time, the Bucharest City Hall gave the entire area to the Sector 4 town hall for administration and it had two components. On the one hand, the floor of the Union, on the other hand, the Unirii Passage. The Unirii Passage, if you remember, had some steps on it, and a car caught fire. Luckily, it caught fire after we managed to install fans and remove the respective steps. Height is a matter that cannot be changed.”

“We secured the passage, after which we began work on the documentation for the floor of the Union. We completed the documentation, we addressed the Government of Romania again, in the mandate of Mr. Ciucă, and this work of the people of Bucharest received funding through an emergency ordinance and was included in the Anghel Saligny program”said the mayor.

Băluță emphasized that the money was not allocated by chance, but following effective collaboration between institutions: “So, Sector 4 didn't randomly receive the money, it didn't stand with an outstretched hand in front of anyone. It's an example of collaboration and cooperation between the Bucharest City Hall, led at the time by Mr. Nicușor Dan, and Sector 4. We received this work precisely because the team I had had a special expertise in quickly preparing the documents. It was an example of effective collaboration that benefited the citizens of Bucharest.”

“And Mr. Nicușor Dan behaved impeccably from this point of view, and today the finality is the following: the plan is being worked on and we made the passage safe. It was not the only work. I told you about the intermodal node, about the expropriations done. All these things came at that time in a package of decisions by the General Council”the mayor added.
