The Slovak fire brigade reported that several dozen people were injured in a train collision on Sunday evening near the Pezinok station near Bratislava. According to the media, nine people have serious injuries. The railway reported that it was a head-on collision between trains, but one train ran into the other.

Journalists who quickly reached the Pezinok station located approximately 30 km from Bratislava reported that ambulances were leaving the scene of the incident to hospitals in the Slovak capital.
The cause of the disaster is still unknown. It is not known whether it was a technical fault or human error. According to the media, the section where the collision occurred is equipped with a modern ETSC system, but it is unclear whether it was operated by the locomotives involved in the collision.
Interior Minister Matusz Szutaj Esztok went to the crash site, and Prime Minister Robert Fico announced on social media that he had called an extraordinary government meeting for Monday morning.
A month ago, there was a train disaster in eastern Slovakia, in which 70 people were injured in a head-on collision.
