In a video published by the media, Rybyansky listens to the court verdict.
The judge announced that the suspect was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention for 60 days with an alternative bail in the amount of UAH 13.3 million.
TSN noted that this is the amount the prosecutor’s office asked to assign as an alternative to arrest, because it is equivalent to the amount that Rybyansky took with him when he disappeared.
“The former policeman is wearing trekking shoes and dressed like a tourist. His lawyer is free, provided by the state,” journalists described the situation in court.
Context
On November 6, the police reported that the head of the Darnitsa police department, Rybyansky, did not show up for duty and went missing, which is why they began a pre-trial investigation under Art. 115 (intentional murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
During the inspection, it became known that the seized funds to which Rybyansky had access had disappeared, so criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 3 of Art. 365 (exceeding power or official authority).
On the same day, a policeman was found in the Vinnytsia region, with him, according to the State Bureau of Investigation, more than 16 million UAH “mostly in dollars”.
Later, the DBR clarified the amount – 13 million UAH disappeared, and Rybyansky, who, as it turned out, was found in a tent in the forest, had only 12.6 million UAH.
The policeman was informed of the suspicion of taking someone else's property on an especially large scale due to abuse of official position (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
