The company Alstom Transport SA placed a lien on the accounts of Metrorex, based on the debts recorded by the carrier on the invoices issued on account of the train maintenance contract.

The measure taken by Alstom comes amid tensions between the two parties, generated by delays and uncertainties regarding the delivery and putting into circulation of the 13 Metropolis trains, intended for the M5 Drumul Taberei – Eroilor highway, according to Club Feroviar.
“The Metrorex company received an address for the establishment of an attachment from Alstom Transport SA. In this sense, in order to continue the current activity and honor the contractual obligations, Metrorex undertakes all the necessary steps to identify and implement quick solutions in compliance with the legal framework in force”said Mariana Miclauș, director of Metrorex.
On December 2, 2020, the management of the Alstom Transport company signed with Metrorex the contract for the delivery of metro trains destined for Highway 5 Drumul Taberei – Eroilor. The value of the contract for the first 13 trains is over 100 million euros. This contract can be extended with the option of delivering another 17 trains, based on an order from the beneficiary, the total value of the project can reach 240 million euros.
Metrorex issued penalty invoices for delivery delays and failure to put trains in “function with passengers”. Alstom does not recognize these penalties and is contesting them in court. On the other hand, Metrorex also wanted to execute the performance guarantee, worth more than 10 million euros.
Only the Metrorex managers have “forgotten” that the carrier also has debts to Alstom Transport, unpaid invoices on account of the IVA, Bombardier and CAF train maintenance contract. So he chose to seize the accounts.
It remains to be seen how this conflict will be resolved, especially since the wage liquidation must be paid on November 12.
It is not the first time that Metrorex chooses to seize accounts.
