The Pentagon presses on allies. Appeals to France


The head of Pentagon Pete Hegeth met on Thursday in Washington with the French defense minister Sebastien Lecorn, calling for greater involvement of France and other NATO Alliance countries in the conventional defense of Europe. The American Ministry of Defense in an official announcement emphasized the importance of this cooperation in the current geopolitical realities.
Pete HegeSeth, according to the content of the message, called the French minister to increasing defense expenditure and taking action together with allies, aimed at moving away from the situation in which the US remain the main guarantee of security in Europe.

The meeting in the Pentagon also included Discussion on efforts aiming towards a lasting peace in Ukraine – a key issue for the region's stability.
This is not the first HegeSeth declaration of this type. During his recent trip to Europe, including visits to Poland, he clearly expressed the view that The United States strives to change their role in ensuring security on the Old Continent. He stated then that America will no longer act as the main European security guard.
The meeting took place in parallel with negotiations in Paris, where US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and a special Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff participated in talks with France President Emmanuel Macron. Representatives of the UK authorities and Germany also took part in the talks, and their topic was further coordination of activities in the context of the war in Ukraine.
