Ciprian Ciucu, nominated PNL candidate for the Capital City Hall. Daniel Băluță says that he will be the PSD candidate: “It's just a formality”

The PNL Bucharest branch designated, on Sunday evening, Ciprian Ciucu as the party's candidate for Bucharest City Hall, according to HotNews sources. The decision was taken by secret ballot. For his part, Daniel Băluță said, on Digi24, that his designation as PSD candidate “is a formality”.
The decision taken today by the Bucharest liberals will be submitted to the National Permanent Bureau of the PNL, which will meet in a meeting and validate the candidacy of Ciprian Ciucu, this being the last procedural step provided by the party statute.
This meeting will most likely take place in the coming days, so that Ciprian Ciucu can officially become the PNL candidate for Bucharest City Hall.
Stelian Bujduveanu, the only opponent
The only opponent that Ciprian Ciucu had in Sunday's PNL Bucharest meeting was the current acting general mayor of the Capital, Stelian Bujduveanu, according to HotNews sources.
Bujduveanu wanted to get the support of the party to run in the December 7 elections, but he did not get the necessary votes.
The Prime Minister and President of the PNL, Ilie Bolojan, said Thursday evening, on Antena 3 CNN, that Ciprian Ciucu “will very likely be” the party's candidate for Bucharest City Hall.
Daniel Băluță says he is the PSD candidate
Invited to Digi24 on Sunday evening, the mayor of sector 4 Daniel Băluță said that PSD's decision regarding his designation as the party's candidate for the Capital City Hall is a “purely formal” one.
“It will be decided in the next two or three days… We are looking forward to the Permanent Bureau, it will probably be on Tuesday or Wednesday, and we will discuss this topic within the Social Democratic Party as well. (…) Obviously, it is a purely formal decision at this moment and we are waiting to implement it”, declared Băluță.
