Former international Ciprian Marica, who played for Shakhtar Donetsk between 2004 and 2007, commented on the offer received by Dinamo Bucharest for Cătălin Cârjan from Metalist Kharkiv, the 7th-placed player in Ukraine.
Marica said the amount being circulated for the transfer “is staggering”.
“Honestly, I could not allow a young player with potential and perspective to go to Ukraine at this moment. Of course, for the club the amount is dizzying. 4 million euros is a lot of money. I know what is happening there, I even know about the fights in Kharkiv and Donetsk,” said the former Dinamo striker, according to sport.ro.
He said that he would not go to Ukraine again in the current context.
“It's very dangerous, they go into the bunker during training. It's a life that, as a footballer, you don't really want. The club would certainly be happy, but, from the player's point of view, you think many times if you make this decision. I for one would not go”, Ciprian Marica said.
