Ukraine and Norway will produce drones together, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said on Sunday, announcing that he had signed an agreement on this matter with his Norwegian counterpart, Tore O. Sandvik.

“This is an important step that will increase our capabilities and strengthen Ukraine's defense. The next stage is the rapid launch of a pilot production line in 2026 and parallel work on further increasing production capacity,” said Szmyhal.
He informed that Ukraine would share its experience and innovations with Norway. In return, “Ukraine will receive a strong production base that will provide our soldiers with modern drones, as well as research, development and construction cooperation with leading Norwegian institutions,” he emphasized.
Szmyhal said that the agreement with Norway is an example of his country's cooperation with foreign partners, which – as he noted – “strengthens the defense capabilities of all countries of the free world”.
On Thursday, the head of the Ministry of Defense announced that Ukraine had signed a contract with Great Britain for the production of the Ukrainian Octopus interceptor drone, used, among others, to counter the Shahed strike drones used by Russia. Mass production of these machines is planned.
