New platform from Ikea. Here are the most important details
The new platform allows users to offer used Ikea furniture and accessories for sale – both those available in the current offer and from older collections. The process of publishing an advertisement is automated: after adding a photo and a short description, the system supplements the offer with product specifications and photos from the Ikea database.
The seller can choose one of two forms of payment: an Ikea refund e-card with a 5% bonus or a traditional bank transfer.. All transactions are carried out using trusted payment methods and each item listed must be an original Ikea product.
— The Second-hand Ikea platform is the next step in the development of our digital services and building a consistent, omni-channel shopping experience. It is also a response to the needs of customers who are already exchanging Ikea furniture on social media. Thanks to our platform, they can do it simply and safely – in a place that combines the convenience of technology with brand trust – emphasizes Małgorzata Bochenek, Business Development and Digital Director of Ikea Retail in Poland.

The new initiative is also the first time in Ikea's history to enter the marketplace model – a solution that opens the brand to a completely new way of working with customers and creating shared value. The platform is currently available in the test phase for members of the Ikea Family program in Poland. The service can be used via the Second-hand Ikea website.
The introduction of the platform is part of the strategy of Ikea and Ingka Group, which aims to develop circular solutions and reduce the impact of their activities on the environment.
According to data from the analytical company Mordor Intelligence, the global second-hand furniture market is growing dynamically and is expected to reach a value of over USD 60 billion by 2030, with an average annual growth rate exceeding 5%.
Ingka Group in Poland currently manages 12 Ikea stores, 16 Planning and Ordering Studios and over 50 Order Collection Points, as well as four shopping centers and a large distribution center in Jarosty near Piotrków Trybunalski. The company also invests in renewable energy sources – it has seven wind farms and one solar farm, which produce more energy than Ikea consumes in the country.
