A new express road will be built in Romania: “Someș Expres” goes directly into execution and will reach the border with Hungary

Approximately 142 million lei will cost the construction of a new expressway in Romania, more precisely in the west of the country. It is an express road of about 11 km, called “Someș Expres”, between Satu Mare and Oar, on the border with Hungary, where it will connect to the M49 express road in the neighboring country. The execution contract was signed on Tuesday.
The contract for the construction of the Express Road Oar – Satu Mare, which will also ensure the connection with the border between Romania and Hungary, was signed on Tuesday by CNAIR with the contractor CONSTRUCTII ERBAțU for about 720.48 million lei.
The co-contract is of the Fidic Roșu type, that is, the design has already been completed, and the builder will enter directly into the execution stage of the works for the 10.83 km. The completion period is 24 months.
The Oar – Satu Mare Express road is also called “Someș Express”, it will have 2 lanes in each direction, a design speed of 120 km/h, and along the route will be built including:
- two road junctions,
- two parking lots,
- a Maintenance and Control Center (CIC).
The new expressway will start from the ring road of the municipality of Satu Mare and, in the area of the border town of Oar, will connect to the M49 expressway on Hungarian territory.
The beginning of the expressway can be found on the ring road of the municipality of Satu Mare, a meadow area, north of DN19, between the bridge over Someș and the junction with DN19, according to CNAIR.
In this area, a B-type “trumpet” node will be built, which will be inserted between the braces of the existing node that ensures the traffic exchange between the Satu Mare Bypass Variant – DN19 and the bridge of the Bypass Variant over the Someș river.
