PSD Senator Titus Corlăţean said on Thursday that “Gold comes over PSD” and “occupies this social, electoral area”, claiming that this is not the USR and PNL job, because they have another electorate, the right, and that “the strategic battle in Romania and for Romania will be given between PSD and gold”.
“To be a very clear thing. The smaller we are, the PSD, the bigger gold. The gold comes over us, occupies this social, electoral area. It is not the USR and PNL job, they have another electorate, on the right. At the European FM radio station, Cites News.ro.
What does the PSD pass into opposition say
According to the senator, the PSD has to recover huge electorate segments, which are not permanently left.
“They were dissatisfied, they were frustrated, they went there because they had no other option. Those people can still come and we can bring them, if we make a deep change in the PSD. So the true battle will be between PSD and gold,” said Titus Corlăţean.
Asked if this means that PSD will strategically pass into opposition and fight gold for the lost electorate, Corlăţean said that “this would mean, beyond other steps and other strategies, that the PSD will return, to become a serious, powerful party.”

Titus Corlățean will be the opponent of Sorin Grindeanu for the head of the PSD. A month ago, he announced that he would run for PSD president at the Congress to be organized this fall. Corlățean then invoked the fact that the party “needs credibility, needs to be relaunched, it must be led by well trained people, with the diploma on the table”.
“I said to them: we do not have to stay 4 years in opposition, let's take about 6-9 sabbatical months.”
Titus Corlăţean was asked in Europa FM if he were to remove the party from the government, if he will become PSD president.
“Well, first of all, this party should not have come to government. (…) These people sold the illusions to the party members. We go to government, they will be good. They sold illusions because they knew. And functions, of course, and projects, and money, they sold them as a period. Austerity, of cuts (…) said that we enter the government and solve I do not know what kind of functions and so on. Corlăţean.
“And I said to them: We don't have to stay four years in opposition. Let's take, if not a sabbatical year, about six-new sabbatical months, in which we will get back to the party, to generate a new team, an image, to give oxygen and to return strong, with the legitimacy from the congress and to enter the parliament. The EU and NATO with a minority PSD government supported by the Parliament by the UDMR and partly, in the first part, of liberals and maybe the government was even more coherent with three parties assumed by the right, not with one of the center-left, which has a certain vision, and with three right, ”continued the Social Democrat.
Titus Corlăţean also says that, “if you have entered the government, you have little way to go now, because in October you are lasting on some country ratings and nobody wants it.”
“If you have entered the government, at least change the quality of government. Inside the coalition, not on TVs,” he said.
