Head of the Minsk City Health Center, nutritionist Snezhana Kavrigo told what should be included in the diet, added to dishes and consumed in drinks in the fall to strengthen the immune system, reduce the risk of inflammatory processes and increase the body’s defense against viral infections. The recommendations were posted by the portal 24health.by(16+).
First of all, you should pay attention to natural compounds of plant origin with powerful biologically active properties. They usually have a bright color and a slightly bitter taste. Among the foods rich in polyphenols, the doctor highlighted:
- cloves;
- parsley;
- dill;
- coriander;
- blueberries;
- eggplant;
- cinnamon;
- turmeric;
- chokeberry;
- flax seeds;
- sage;
- mint;
- strawberries;
- coffee.
These compounds support the cardiovascular system, activate the immune system and reduce the risk of inflammatory processes. To prevent diseases, you should also use propolis and royal jelly. For example, to strengthen the immune system, propolis is usually taken orally in the form of tinctures or dietary supplements.
Royal jelly is usually placed under the tongue and waited until it is completely dissolved so that the body receives the maximum beneficial substances. The doctor notes that in the fall you especially need vitamins A, E, D, C, as well as minerals – zinc and selenium.
Don't forget about the state of your digestive system:
- Beneficial bacteria do not like fast food, sweets and baked goods. But they “feel better” on low-sugar vegetables and fruits.
- Fermented milk products also help maintain healthy microflora and strengthen the immune system.
- Constant “trips to the refrigerator” not only add extra centimeters to the waist, but also weaken the body’s defenses. It is better to suffer a little mild hunger than to mindlessly overeat, especially due to low physical activity and an increased risk of infections.
Do not forget to monitor your sleep schedule, do not forget about communicating with friends, regular walks and exercise, because this helps the immune system stay strong.
