The mayor of Buzau, Constantin Toma (PSD), said on Monday, at the first news that the social-democrats project on reducing the number of positions in the local administration will make three quarters of the mayors make any dismissals. Toma also disputes the number of employees in the local administration conveyed by the mayor of Craiova, Lia Olguța Vasilescu.
“At this moment, about three quarters of the Romanian town halls will not be available any man. The reform must be made, not even reform. I have a different position than what colleagues have decided today, in the national political office. Four people per territorial administrative unit (UAT) would be available. Money does not even cover their salaries, I do not talk about the other operating expenses.
“We do not have to bury it, so, of pride, that we will not give any man outside and how smart we are. The deficit is very big, we risk having problems in the economy, this crisis becomes more and more economic crisis and then it will be very, very difficult,” added the mayor, quoted by News.ro.
Constantin Toma also commented on the statement of Mayor Lia Olguţa Vasilescu, according to which only 125,000 people would be employed in the local administration.
“We also have some structures, which are called the Directorate of Social Assistance, Cultural Centers, Sports Clubs and so on, what each City Hall has and there are also budgets. And there are a lot of presidents of county councils, in this country, in which the largest employer in a county is the County Council,” added Toma.
What has decided the PSD leadership
At the Monday meeting of the management, the Social Democrats decided to support the reform in the public administration discussed by the PSD, PNL, USR and UDMR leaders in the coalition.
What variant supports PSD for administration reform: “It was very good that I blocked this package”
The variant with which Sorin Grindeanu will go on Tuesday in the Coalition meeting involves cutting both in the local and central administration. Locally, the PSD will ask for a differentiated cutting, meaning that the mayors and presidents of the county councils will have a choice between a 10% cutting of the occupied positions or a 10% reduction of the expenses with the salaries.
“We came up with variants. We agree with a 30% reduction in the total number of positions (n.red. Occupied and unoccupied) but not more than 20% of the total number of positions. To contribute with discounts of expenses ”, declared Lia Olguța Vasilescu, mayor of Craiova, at the end of the meeting of the PSD leadership.
Specifically, the PSD proposal means that the big town halls, which have several employees will be able to make dismissals, while the town halls in the communes, for example, where the number of employees is reduced for salary cuts.
Finally, at national level, 10% of employees should be fired, about 12,000 officials locally. “It was very good that I blocked this package when discussing the 45% reduction in the number of positions, because it would have blocked the local administration, because it started from the wrong premises, there were 330,000 people, there are 330,000 people, there are 125,000 in the local administration. Vasilescu.
