Polish chefs appreciated. Ten among the world elite


On October 1-2, Milan became the center of world gastronomy. The 9th edition of The Best Chef Awards gathered leading chefs, critics and Fine Dining enthusiasts. Polish chefs were extremely appreciated. The number of awarded bosses from our country increased from four last year to ten.
The Best Chef is “vibrant, the world community of food enthusiasts”. The project is devoted to appreciating the most talented chefs who create global gastronomy. Polish neurobiologist Joanna Płusarczyk and Italian gastronom Cristian Gaduu are responsible for the initiative existing since 2015.
The award awarded since 2017 distinguishes not so much specific dishes or ideas as visionary and versatility of chefs. The rating system is based on the symbolism of the knives:
- One Knife (Excellent) – above 20 percent points,
- Two Knives (World Class) – above 40 percent ,
- Three Knives (The Best) – above 80 percent
Polish chefs with international successes
This year, as many as 783 chefs from around the world received awards, including ten from Poland. Seven of the winners are behind the restaurants distinguished by Michelin stars.
The list includes:

- Antonio Artiri (Arco by Paco Pérez, Gdańsk – Two Knives),
- Beata Śniechowska (Baba, Wrocław – One Knife),
- Bartosz Szymczak (Rozbrat 20, Warsaw – One Knife),
- Przemek Sieradzki (Giewont, Kościelisko – One Knife),
- Witek Iwański (Hub Praga, Warsaw – One Knife),
- Michał Kuter (And the knife fork, Poznań – One Knife),
- Marcin Jasiura (Noriko Sushi, Wrocław – One Knife),
- Artur Skotarczyk (Muga, Poznań – One Knife),
- Andrea Camastra (Note, Warsaw – One Knife).
“Culinary art has always been a meeting place – traditions and innovation, nature and technology, local products and bold ideas. In the note we try to make our story about Polish dishes based on local ingredients to sound in an authentic and personal way. This year, the first place was won by Rasmus Munk from Denmark (Alchemist Restaurant). The second was awarded to Anie Roš from Slovenia (Hiša Franko), and the third by Himanshu Sainia from the United Arab Emirates (Trèsind Studio).
