Mass protests in Rome. The demonstrators clashed with the police


The participants of the Propalestine demonstration came from all over Italy, they walked through the streets of the capital with banners with slogans of Solidarity with Palestinians and activists of the international flotilla, which carried help for the Gaza Zone and was detained by the Israeli forces. On one of the banners there was a slogan: “Today Saint Francis of Assisi would be here”. This is a reference to the Saturday celebration of the Saint – the patron of Italy. So he had most of the peaceful course.

The incidents occurred in the evening, when a group of several hundred demonstrators broke away from the march and in the city center began to commit vandalism and attack policemen. The officers used hydrants. The troops to suppress the riots joined the campaign.

Saturday was the fourth day of protests in Rome, convened after the global Sumud flotilla.
