French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Thursday that European heads of state will meet “in the coming days” to act against the Russian fleet-ships carrying Russian oil bypass Western sanctions, AFP informs.
Macron asked to take a step in the “obstruction policy” of the respective vessels. “Very concrete, in the following days, our heads of state-state, in coordination with NATO, within the will coalition, will meet to build common actions,” he told Copenhagen, after a summit of the heads of state and government.
It is extremely important to increase the pressure on the ghost fleet, as this clearly reduces the ability of Russia to finance its war effort in Ukraine, the president said in the opening of the European Political Community (CPE).
Russia's “ghost fleet” has up to 1,000 ships, says Macron, after France has opened a discrete inquiry in the case of Boracay oil
He estimated the volume of the respective oil trade at “over 30 billion euros” entering the Russian budget, covering “30 to 40% of its war effort”.
Through a larger number of control operations such as the one carried out by France, it can be “destroyed the economic model, retaining days or weeks these ships and forcing them to organize themselves differently,” Macron suggested to the European partners.
The military from the commands of the French Marine Infantry intercepted last Saturday, a Russian ghost-ghost oil on the coasts of France; The commander of the ship will be tried for “refusal to comply”, according to article 110 of the UN Convention in Montego Bay, the Brest Prosecutor's Office said. The oilman, who now sails under Benin's flag and the name Boracay, has previously changed his respective attributes and was on the list of European sanctions.
