Fourth Auction for Bioethanol Factory Near Toruń Starts at Reduced Price

The price for the Bioethanol factory near Toruń has dramatically decreased in the fourth auction organized by the syndicate. Just months ago, the price for the property, which encompasses the entire factory site, exceeded 16 million PLN. Now, prospective buyers can participate with a starting bid of only 4 million PLN. Bids will be accepted until November 16, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the office located at Chocimska 18 in Warsaw, with the opening of offers scheduled for November 18 at 11:00 AM, according to reports from Ototorun.pl.

Participants are required to submit a deposit of 400,000 PLN. The alcohol factory, which produces ethyl alcohol, has a rich history dating back to the 1880s. The current asking price reflects a staggering 75% reduction from earlier bids, amounting to just 25% of the previous figure. The first sale offer was made at the beginning of this year, with an initial price of over 16 million PLN. However, previous attempts to sell the factory in March, June, and August have not resulted in a sale.

The factory occupies a total area of 1.22 hectares, which includes two plots of land with production, storage, and administrative facilities. The successful bidder will also acquire the factory’s equipment, including production installations, supplementary devices, transport means, office furnishings, and machinery software.

Bioethanol was known for producing various types of raw, rectified, and dehydrated ethyl alcohol, in addition to chemical products, including disinfectants and biofire liquids. The factory’s origins trace back to 1882 when a sugar factory was built on the site, becoming the largest sugar producer in Europe by 1929. After World War II, the facility expanded, and two years later, it initiated the production of anhydrous alcohol. Eventually, alcohol production was separated from sugar production. Today, the sugar factory operates as Nordzucker Polska, while Bioethanol was declared bankrupt in late May 2024, leading to the loss of all 43 employees.
