Poland Distributes Air Attack Response Guides to Citizens

The Polish government has initiated a program to distribute a brochure containing essential recommendations for citizens in the event of air attacks. These guides will be accessible on government websites and provided to all local authorities.
The 12-page brochures are also set to be handed out during events organized by the Academy of Civil Defense and during national and regional response training exercises.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, citizens are advised to familiarize themselves with alarm signals and the locations of nearby shelters before any threats arise. Families are encouraged to establish action plans, meeting points, and communication rules in advance, as well as prepare an emergency evacuation backpack.
In the case of an alarm announcement, if the route to a shelter is safe and there is sufficient time, citizens are advised to take their backpacks and necessary medications, opting for stairs instead of elevators.
If reaching a shelter requires spending extended time outdoors, the Polish government recommends staying inside buildings with solid, intact walls and roofs. In such cases, the ‘two-wall’ rule should be followed.
The brochure also advises that if a person is caught in an open area during an explosion, they should lie flat on the ground, preferably in a depression, and cover their head. Those in vehicles are instructed to exit their cars and move to the nearest safe location.
The Ministry of the Interior emphasizes the importance of adhering to warnings from the Government Security Center and following official communications and directives from authorities.
