American Fund Eyes Investment in Legia Warsaw Amid Financial Struggles

Legia Warsaw has been grappling with financial and sporting difficulties for several seasons. The club has not won a championship since 2021 and has missed out on European competitions, necessitating cost-cutting measures and the sale of key players. Reports indicate that discussions for a new investor are progressing. According to journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk from Meczyków, Dariusz Mioduski currently holds 100 percent of the club’s shares, a situation that may soon change.

Włodarczyk stated, “We have received news in recent days that the businessman is close to selling a minority stake in the club.” A thorough financial audit of Legia has been ongoing for several months. Włodarczyk confirmed that talks regarding the investment from an American fund have been underway for quite some time, although Mioduski has not considered fully withdrawing from the project.

The identity of the potential investor remains undisclosed, as does the exact size of the stake being offered for sale. Mioduski has been associated with Legia Warsaw since 2012 when he joined the supervisory board. In January 2014, he, alongside Bogusław Leśnodorski, acquired full ownership from ITI, initially controlling 80 percent of the shares. He assumed complete control of the club on March 22, 2017, when he bought out the remaining shares from Leśnodorski and Maciej Wandzel, becoming the sole shareholder and president.
