DTEK Secures Major US DFC Funding for Ukraine’s Energy Sector

The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) approved a significant loan for DTEK on September 16, 2023, aimed at bolstering foreign private investment in the restoration of Ukraine’s energy sector.
DTEK currently operates energy storage systems across six sites in central Ukraine, boasting a total capacity of 200 MW and an energy storage capacity of 400 MWh. These systems can respond to network disruptions within milliseconds, thereby enhancing the stability of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
Maxim Timchenko, CEO of DTEK, emphasized that the DFC’s decision reflects confidence in Ukraine’s energy sector and underscores the country’s attractiveness to international investors. He stated that this agreement allows DTEK, the largest private investor in Ukraine, to channel additional funds into various projects that will strengthen energy security.
Ben Black, CEO of DFC, noted that these investments will support American exports, safeguard critical infrastructure in Ukraine, and reinforce the presence of American companies in international markets.
