Claudiu Răducanu Returns to Ghencea for Charity Event

Claudiu Răducanu, the former Steaua Bucharest striker, recently returned to Ghencea, the stadium where he experienced some of the most memorable moments of his football career. His visit was part of a charity event aimed at helping children in need.

At 49 years old, Răducanu, who was transferred to Espanyol Barcelona for €1.5 million, has become a rare figure in the world of football. “I am well. I am happy to be invited to this charity match and to see my former teammates again. I have many memories at Ghencea and I’m very glad to return to this beautiful stadium and pitch,” he shared exclusively with GSP.RO.

Life has significantly changed for Claudiu Răducanu since retiring from football. He mentions that he now spends quality time with his family and is engaged in a new venture: house construction.

After his divorce from his first wife, Răducanu remarried in 2019, and the couple now shares a daughter.

Memories from the Romania Derby: “That Was the Most Beautiful Time”

“I’m spending my time with my family, building houses… I’m doing well, healthy. Thank you. Business is good for now,” Răducanu said. The former top scorer of Steaua recalls the intense derby matches with Dinamo, expressing that the rivalry brought a unique ambition. Scoring against their major rivals brought him immense satisfaction.

“Whenever it was Dinamo versus FCSB… Steaua, those were excellent matches. We had a special ambition, and I proved that in every game against Dinamo, scoring against them was always the sweetest,” he reminisced about his time on the pitch.

During his four years at Steaua, Răducanu scored 58 goals in 106 matches and was the Divizia A top scorer in 2001 with 21 goals.

A Message for Universitatea Craiova

Răducanu also expressed his sentiments regarding Universitatea Craiova, a city close to his heart, celebrating their championship win after a long wait. He wishes the team a lengthy journey in European competitions.

“I’m really glad they won the championship after such a long time, and now I wish them to go as far as possible in European cups, in the Conference League,” concluded Claudiu Răducanu.
