Major Restructuring Planned for Ukrainian Assault Units

According to Palisas, the new commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Mykhailo Drapaty, has a strategic vision for the military’s structure. He is currently adapting the role of the Joint Rapid Response Forces within the Armed Forces to align with his vision.
Palisas expressed that it is likely most units will be consolidated under a single command, serving as a conditional reserve for the Commander-in-Chief.
A few units are being considered for direct subordination to the Commander of the Ground Forces, as indicated by Palisas.
He also mentioned that discussions are ongoing about the deployment of these units, focusing on where and how they should be utilized.
Context
- On July 10, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree creating the Joint Rapid Response Forces within the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. They will be led by Brigadier General Dmytro Voloshyn, a Hero of Ukraine and current commander of the 8th Corps of Air Assault Forces.
