15-Year-Old Footballer Arrested After Stabbing Incident in Galați

A disturbing incident unfolded in Galați, Romania, where a 15-year-old footballer with national junior team selections has been placed under house arrest following the stabbing of a 23-year-old man.
The altercation occurred in a local park when the victim intervened to protect a child threatened by a group of teenagers. Reports indicate that the group, consisting of youths aged between 14 and 17, turned against the man, resulting in him being attacked and stabbed seven times.
The victim, who was with his family at the time, suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital. The young footballer, who has previously been selected for national junior teams, was detained and later placed under house arrest.
According to the victim’s wife, the conflict arose as the group sought revenge on another boy. She recounted, “We defended him, saying, ‘leave him alone, why are you hitting him?’ This led to an escalation where they pushed my husband, causing him to fall, before they all began to strike him. One of them then stabbed him.”
Trainer’s Shock Over Incident
Bogdan Balaban, the teenager’s coach, expressed his shock over the events, noting that there had been no issues related to the athlete’s conduct in sports. He stated, “This is a matter of family and peer influence. I am just as shocked by what happened. From a sports perspective, there is nothing to reproach. He had even been selected for the National Team…”
The investigation into the case is ongoing, and the 15-year-old remains under house arrest.
