Beginning Tuesday, the maximum prices for all types of fuel will see an increase compared to Monday. The price per liter for Pb95 gasoline will be capped at 6.57 zł, while diesel will be priced at 7.61 zł, and Pb98 gasoline at 7.40 zł. These new rates are based on the announcement made by the Minister of Energy on Monday.
According to the published rates, the price for a liter of Pb95 gasoline will rise to a maximum of 6.57 zł. The price cap for Pb98 gasoline will be 7.40 zł, and for diesel, it will be set at 7.61 zł per liter.
This represents an increase from Monday’s prices, where the maximum cost for Pb95 was 6.54 zł, for Pb98 it was 7.36 zł, and for diesel, it was 7.59 zł.
A new announcement from the Minister of Energy detailing the maximum fuel prices will be released on Tuesday, which will specify the rates effective from Wednesday.
Return of Maximum Fuel Prices
Since August 17, the limited implementation of the Fuel Price Lowering package has resumed. This includes reduced VAT and maximum fuel prices at stations.
The maximum price is determined by a specific formula that considers the average wholesale fuel price in the domestic market, adding excise tax, a fuel fee, a 0.30 zł sales margin per liter, and VAT.
Selling fuel above the established maximum price is subject to a penalty of up to 1 million zł.
Reduced VAT Rates Until End of August
On August 13, a new regulation from the Minister of Finance and Economy came into effect, lowering VAT rates for gasoline and diesel from 23% to 8%.
This reduced VAT will remain in effect until August 31.
The Fuel Price Lowering package was first introduced at the end of March this year in response to soaring oil prices amid the conflict between the USA, Israel, and Iran that escalated on February 28.
The previous program lasted until the end of June and included a reduced VAT rate for certain fuels, primarily gasoline and diesel, along with maximum price settings at stations. It also involved a temporary excise tax reduction on fuels, which was in place until mid-June.
The Ministry of Finance reported that the total cost of the previous program was approximately 4.7 billion zł. The resumption of the VAT reduction for the last two weeks of August will cost the state budget 495 million zł.
