DESA Unicum, a prominent auction house based in Warsaw, is making its foray into the international art market with a new exhibition in London.
The exhibition titled “Ryszard Rabsztyn. Painted Syntax” has opened at Krupa Gallery in London and will run until August 9. This marks the first exhibition project by DESA Unicum outside of Poland, signifying a strategic move to expand their presence internationally.
According to the organizers, the choice of London is strategic as the United Kingdom remains the second-largest art market in the world. A report by Art Basel and UBS highlights that by 2025, the UK is expected to account for 18 percent of the global sales value.
“London is a strategic development direction for us, attracting international collectors open to Central and Eastern European artistry, and it is home to hundreds of thousands of Poles. Therefore, we see real potential here to foster interest in Polish art and build new business relationships. The exhibition of Ryszard Rabsztyn is our initial pilot step, but it aligns with a much broader strategy for our auction house’s presence beyond Poland,” said Agata Szkup, president of DESA Unicum.
The London exhibition is taking place in Krupa Gallery, located in Clerkenwell, an area of the city historically linked to design, craftsmanship, and culture.
