Trump Confirms Ongoing US-Iran Discussions Amidst Rising Tensions

President Donald Trump stated on Friday that the United States has agreed to continue discussions with Iran, but emphasized that Washington has made it clear to Tehran that the ceasefire is no longer in effect, according to CNN.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran requested us to continue ‘discussions.’ We have agreed,” Trump wrote in a post on the Truth Social platform.

“But the United States has unequivocally communicated that the ceasefire is no longer in effect!” added the White House leader.

This week, the United States has repeatedly launched attacks on Iran following Tehran’s targeting of several vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. However, on Thursday, Trump did not order additional strikes.

A diplomat informed CNN that negotiators from Qatar, in coordination with the United States, traveled to Iran to meet with Iranian officials.

Previously, an American official told CNN that the Trump administration’s strategy involved striking Iranian targets and then suspending military operations to avoid further escalation and allow for continued diplomatic efforts.
