Hermannstadt Faces Uncertainty as Captain Cristian Neguț Awaits News on Future

The situation at Hermannstadt is dire, following their relegation to Liga 2. Cristian Neguț, the team’s captain, recently expressed his concern, stating that he has not received any information about when the team will regroup or the club’s future plans.
Hermannstadt’s relegation followed a loss in the playoff against FC Voluntari, with an aggregate score of 3-5, despite a home victory of 3-2 in the first leg.
Cristian Neguț Comments on Uncertainty: “We Haven’t Been Informed About Reunions or Coaches”
Currently at home in Târgoviște, Neguț has no details regarding the team’s future, especially after the departure of head coach Dorinel Munteanu and several players whose contracts have ended.
“We know nothing; we haven’t been told when we will regroup, who will stay in Liga 2, or who the new coach will be. It’s quite late, and the club should have communicated something concrete by now. I spoke with Claudiu Rotar, who mentioned he would meet with Ștefan Băcilă, and we should have news by Monday. I’m waiting too,” said Neguț.
He has a contract for another year and stated, “If the club keeps me in Liga 2, I will continue my work; if not, I will look for opportunities elsewhere. I have no shortage of offers. It has been a very difficult year; we hoped to salvage the season in the playoffs, but we were down to only 13-14 valid players,” according to oradesibiu.ro.
Neguț began his professional career at Chindia Târgoviște, where he played from 2015 to 2023. During the second half of the 2021-2022 season, he was loaned to CFR Cluj, where he scored one goal and provided one assist in eight appearances, earning a championship medal. After another season at Chindia, which ended in relegation to Liga 2, Neguț joined Hermannstadt, where he spent three seasons in the top tier.
