Thomas Tuchel Defends Harry Kane After Miss Against Ghana

England’s head coach, Thomas Tuchel, expressed that he has no reason to blame team captain Harry Kane for missing a clear chance to secure victory in the match against Ghana. The game ended in a goalless draw, with the English side struggling to penetrate the African team’s dense defense.

After the match, Tuchel was directly asked if he was upset with Kane for the missed opportunity. The German coach responded unequivocally, stating, “I cannot be angry with Harry. Usually, we convert such chances into goals. We had a double opportunity to score, which would have been deserved, but we failed. I knew this match would be very challenging.”

Tuchel noted that Ghana played even more defensively than in their previous match, setting up in a 4-5-1 formation. He emphasized the need for patience at times and emphasized that his team created good opportunities, particularly towards the end of each half.

The substitutions made by Tuchel integrated well into the game, leading him to conclude that the team performed effectively. He acknowledged that Ghana posed a threat through counterattacks, stating, “If we hadn’t defended well in those situations, we could have suffered.”

When asked if this match would alter his plans for the upcoming group stage game against Panama, Tuchel replied, “No, I don’t know yet. It is too early to discuss that match.”
