Controversy Erupts Over Żabka Franchise Recruitment Announcement

A franchisee of Żabka in Warsaw has sparked outrage after posting a recruitment announcement prioritizing Ukrainian candidates, stating that denying Poles “gives her satisfaction.” This has led to intervention from the company headquarters.

The franchisee, who operates a Żabka store in Białołęka, Warsaw, posted a job listing that quickly drew attention and criticism on social media, with many accusing her of discrimination.

In response to the backlash, the franchisee deleted her post and commented that “every nation has normal and abnormal people,” suggesting that the critics were simply envious of her position.

Żabka Network Responds: Franchisee Cautioned

Following the controversy, the Żabka headquarters issued a statement emphasizing that they require all franchisees to adhere to their Code of Ethics and standards that prohibit any form of discrimination, including based on nationality. “We have contacted the franchisee to remind her of the established guidelines,” the press office stated.

They also confirmed that the inappropriate job listing had already been removed. According to the company’s press office, the franchisee insisted that her intention was not to exclude any group from the recruitment process. Żabka clarified that each franchisee is an independent entrepreneur responsible for hiring their own staff and must comply with applicable laws.
