Tatneft has implemented temporary restrictions on fuel sales at its gas stations across Russia, citing technical reasons. According to reports, these limitations apply to both gasoline and diesel fuel.

Drivers in Chelyabinsk have been informed that, for passenger vehicles, the maximum gasoline sale is limited to 30 liters. Diesel fuel can be purchased in amounts up to 60 liters for cars and up to 300 liters for trucks. Moreover, gas stations have restricted payment options, allowing fuel purchases only in cash.

Context

  • In late March, Ukraine ramped up attacks on Russian oil facilities, striking major ports including Novorossiysk on the Black Sea and Primorsk and Ust-Luga on the Baltic Sea. These actions reportedly deprived Russia of approximately $1 billion in weekly revenue.
  • On June 13, the monitoring Telegram channel Supernova+ reported that Ukrainian strikes on oil refineries in Nizhnekamsk (Tatarstan, Russia) paralyzed the entire Tatneft gas station network. Following this, limits on fuel sales and price increases were observed in Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, Saint Petersburg, and Moscow.
  • Earlier in June, media outlets indicated that in response to Ukrainian strikes, fuel sales restrictions had been implemented in at least 15 regions of Russia as well as in occupied territories of Ukraine, including Crimea.
