Rospotrebnadzor named signs of good kvass

Specialists from Krasnoyarsk Rospotrebnadzor told us how to choose good kvass.

It is noted that the taste of this drink depends on the technology, ingredients and their proportions. Sometimes fragrant herbs, honey and honeycombs are added to kvass. There are recipes for cooking with vegetables (beets or turnips), and there are also exotic combinations: apple-rowanberry, plum-pear or blueberry-mint.

In industrial production, classic bread kvass is most often prepared. Therefore, when choosing, it is recommended to focus on the following signs:

  • composition: only water, rye flour, malt, sugar and yeast, no artificial additives;
  • foaming means there is enough carbon dioxide;
  • dark container – it protects from light.

Experts also recalled the benefits of kvass: it has a low energy value (100 g contains only 27 calories), refreshes, improves digestion and metabolism, helps break down fats, and also strengthens hair and nails due to the content of vitamins B1, E, A.

But there are also contraindications: kvass not recommended drink for liver cirrhosis, gastritis and hypertension.
