The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will soon present changes in the mobilization system and the work of territorial recruitment centers. This was stated by Deputy Defense Minister Mstislav Banik in a comment to Telegraph, which was published on June 15.
According to him, this will be the next stage of reforms in the defense sector.
Banik indicated that the innovations will directly affect citizens who are wanted for violating military registration rules and are not serving.
He also noted that one of the reasons for avoiding mobilization is fear of uncertainty.
“Because such a person now sees his prospects of entering the mobilization and never leaving – going to combat in the infantry and not understanding when such service will end. Or relying on all the jokes that the military talks about regarding ways to leave the army, and what awaits you then. This [реформа] just the answer to these people who are now receiving new prospects for military service – quite clear and understandable. And this is part of the reform of our mobilization. Including so that the people we will mobilize now also understand what their prospects are in a long war,” the deputy minister emphasized.
At the same time, he added that the Ministry of Defense approaches the preparation of changes with the utmost caution. According to Banik, the authorities have only one opportunity to carry out mobilization reform during the current war – there will not be a second one. Therefore, as the Deputy Minister emphasized, decisions must be carefully worked out and agreed upon between the government, the president and the military leadership.
“Whether there will be raids or something else, I won’t say for sure, but I will say for sure that the format of forced mobilization that now exists in society has a very bad effect on us. We’ll see what it will be like later,” Banik said.
He did not specify exactly what the new approach to recruiting troops would be, but assured that changes would be presented very soon. “This is not 2027,” the official added.
