Rareș Bogdan supports Adrian Veștea for the position of prime minister, despite other liberals who oppose: “We can have a Government in 72 hours”

PNL MEP Rareș Bogdan said on Monday that Veștea is an option “suitable” for this position and that Romania quickly needs a functional executive. Moreover, he highlighted that Romania is going through a difficult economic period and needs governmental stability.

“Mr. Veștea is a local elected official, a member of the National Liberal Party for the last 30 years, a man who was elected by direct vote of the citizens (…) I think he should be taken into account”, said Rareș Bogdan, emphasizing his administrative experience at the local and county level.
Rareș Bogdan highlighted that Romania is going through a difficult economic period and needs government stability, an executive capable of supporting the country's investments and strategic partnerships.
“At this moment, Romania needs responsibility more than ever. It needs a capable Government, which understands the partnership with the United States of America and the European Union”, he transmitted.
Rareș Bogdan stated that, under conditions of political responsibility, the new Government could be invested in a very short term.
“A Government that I hope in the next 72 hours will pass through Parliament, if there is enough responsibility”, declared the liberal MEP.
He also appealed to the decision of the political parties, arguing that they must choose between the opposition and assuming the government in the current context.
At the same time, Rareș Bogdan appreciated the appointment of Adrian Veștea by President Nicușor Dan, which he categorized as “a responsible intervention”, arguing that the head of state has more information on the current situation of the country.
The statements were made before the meeting of the PNL leadership, called urgently after the announcement of the appointment of Adrian Veștea for the formation of the new Government.
At the same time, more and more liberal leaders express their support for Ilie Bolojan and for the political direction supported by him and are opposed to participating in the formation of a government together with the PSD and, implicitly, supporting a government led by Adrian Veștea.
The Cluj County Board of Directors voted unanimously to reconfirm the decision not to participate in the formation of a government alongside the PSD and not to support an executive led by Adrian Veștea, PNL MEP Daniel Buda announced.
