1970 – Nicolae Ceaușescu began his official visit to France
Nicolae Ceaușescu began an official two-day visit to France, at the invitation of President Georges Pompidou. The visit was part of the foreign policy of communist Romania to strengthen relations with Western states.
During the trip, the Romanian leader gave an interview to the French state television ORTF, in which he stated that Romania would have established a regime of social equity and even suggested its superiority over the French model, a statement that attracted the attention of the international press.
1977 – Constantin Brâncusi's workshop was inaugurated in Paris
In Paris, the reconstructed workshop of the sculptor Constantin Brâncuși was inaugurated, located on the Beaubourg esplanade, near the Museum of Modern Art. The space was designed to faithfully reproduce the original atmosphere of the artist's studio in Impasse Ronsin.
The project brought together 148 sculptures and works, giving visitors an insight into how Brâncusi organized his creation. The workshop has become a cultural landmark and a tribute to one of the greatest sculptors of the 20th century.
2002 – MTV Romania was launched
MTV Romania was officially launched in 2002, in a special event attended by the international artist Enrique Iglesias. The launch marked the entry of the MTV brand on the media market in Romania, in a period of expansion of music television.
The station quickly became popular among young audiences, broadcasting international music, entertainment shows and pop culture content. MTV Romania ceased its activity in 2019, after almost two decades of broadcasting.
