Adrian Veștea believes that his appointment as prime minister will not split the PNL: “The party will emerge much stronger from this situation”

The liberal Adrian Veștea does not think that he will break the National Liberal Party, after he was appointed prime minister by the president Nicuşor Dan, without the party leaders being notified about this, but, “on the contrary”, he believes that the PNL “will come out of this situation much stronger”.

He says that he will have a discussion on Monday with the president of the PNL, Ilie Bolojan, whom he says he appreciates “very much” and who is “a mature person”, who has been through “all kinds of situations”. “I think that, for each of us in this period, the interest of the country should be given priority and at the same time we should make all these reforms”, says Veştea, as quoted by News.ro.

“I don't think that I will break the National Liberal Party, on the contrary, I believe that the National Liberal Party must be much stronger from this situation, to take on the reforms that it will make”, answered Vestea, adding that, during Monday, he will have a discussion with the president of the party, Ilie Bolojan, whom he says he appreciates “very much” and whom he says is “a mature person who has been through all kinds of situations”.

The news believes that, during this period, it should receive, “for each of us”, “the interest of the country” and that, at the same time, “all the necessary reforms” must be made.

“The president made this decision, and today we are faced with a situation that I am fully convinced that we will overcome and we must remain in the optimistic zone. I don't think that we should remain only in the pessimistic zone and how black the next period will be. I am a man who, over time, has conquered, made projects, I am able to lead people, make decisions, assume deadlines and this will be seen in the period next. (…) I never compromise on principles, every time I rely on seriousness, every time I will refer to certain targets and certain deadlines, on which Romania's economy depends a lot”, pointed out Veștea.

The prime minister-designate also said that he does not want to end up in situations like those in 1996 when the party fragmented, but that, in his opinion, the situation should be handled “with maturity” and that “we should not have that constant authority and to impose discipline through all kinds of threats”.

“In the National Liberal Party there were free people, people who expressed their point of view every time, and I don't think that today I am doing any kind of disservice to the National Liberal Party, but, on the contrary…”, Veştea also said.

News: Nicușor Dan considered me a “balanced and non-conflictual” person

The designated prime minister specified that, from the discussions he had with the president Nicusor Dan, he understood that, from the evaluations he made at the level of the political class, he has a good opinion, considering him a “balanced and non-conflictual” person.

“I think you have never seen harsh posts against any colleagues or opponents. I have been in electoral competitions for 22 years. In 2004 I won my first mandate, and if someone were to evaluate all my posts during the election campaign, I did not attack and I never have the intention to win my image or get votes by attacking my enemies, creating all kinds of leveling between one and the other, but on the contrary. every time the facts spoke, every time I won categorically in the positions I ran for, and my interest is to create stability, to create a balance and to have the National Liberal Party by my side in all these endeavors, because not having it by my side today would mean nothing more than creating even more vulnerabilities for me”, concluded Adrian Veștea.
