SpaceX IPO: The most important figures of Elon Musk's company after the listing – it reached 2,000 billion dollars. “When Silicon Valley Meets Wall Street”
Space X's Nasdaq listing made a spectacular debut in what is already considered the largest initial public offering (IPO) in history, making the world's richest man the first trillionaire (one thousand billion) on Earth.
- Basically, SpaceX is worth 4 times the GDP of Romania, which is the 12th in terms of value out of the 27 EU member countries.
- The previous largest stock market listing was that of Saudi Arabia's oil company, Saudi Aramco (2019), which was worth $1.7 trillion on the Saudi stock exchange.
Shares of Elon Musk's company ended the first day at $160.95, up 19.2% from the $135 offer price.
Investor enthusiasm was so great that the Robinhood platform temporarily experienced technical problems due to the high number of hits, writes CNN.
Friday's stock surge propelled SpaceX's market value to about $2 trillion, making the company the sixth most valuable publicly traded company in the United States.
“Absolute Domination”
This brought the fortune of Musk, who owns nearly half of SpaceX shares, to about $1.26 trillion, making him the first person in history to surpass the trillion dollar mark.
Investor interest was unprecedented. Fidelity reported more than 500,000 buy orders for SpaceX stock in less than an hour after trading began.
The company has around 22,000 employees, and estimates suggest that more than 4,400 of them have become millionaires following the listing.
Founded by Musk 24 years ago, SpaceX continues to expand its space operations. On the very day of its IPO, the company launched 29 more Starlink satellites into orbit.
The Financial Times wrote that “the launch of SpaceX is proof of the absolute supremacy of Elon Musk, who managed to unite the technological innovation of Silicon Valley with the interests of Wall Street”.
