The historical object on Soborna Square, 3 in Lviv, damaged as a result of shelling by the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, will be restored by French specialists from the association “Carpenters Without Borders”. The press service of the Lviv City Council reported this on June 11.
We are talking about specialists who previously participated in the restoration of the wooden structures of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris after the fire of 2019. They will work to restore the building's roof and use traditional woodworking techniques used during the restoration of the French cathedral.
Representatives of the association noted that the project in Lviv is a professional challenge for them and at the same time a manifestation of solidarity with Ukraine. They have already inspected the damaged facility and determined approaches to future work.
“During a visit to Lviv, they inspected houses on Cathedral Square, as well as on Melnyk and Konovalets streets, which were damaged as a result of Russian shelling. They agreed to work on joint projects to restore damaged historical heritage and train a new generation of restorers,” added the mayor of the city, Andriy Sadovyi.
