Martin Demichelis (45), who was relegated with Mallorca in the previous season from La Liga, is the new coach of RB Leipzig, a team that will perform in the next season in the Champions League after finishing in 3rd place in the Bundesliga.

Mallorca finished the La Liga season in 18th place with 42 points, the same as Osasuna and Levante. The formation coached by Demichelis was relegated due to the negative results from the direct matches with the two previously mentioned teams.

Martin Demichelis' departure from Mallorca comes just two weeks after the Argentine coach extended his contract until 2028.

According to information provided by Marca, Demichelis has received an irresistible offer from RB Leipzig and will leave Mallorca on his own, without his current technical staff.

Retired from football in 2017, Martin Demichelis began his coaching career as a “second” at Malaga, the club he last played for.

Later, the Argentinian trained several youth teams of Bayern Munich, the club for which he played, and the first important adventure of his career began in 2023, on the bench of River Plate. Before coming to Mallorca, Demichelis also coached Monterrey.

Demichelis has 3 trophies as a manager, all with River Plate, including a title in Argentina.

A central defender by trade, Demichelis was trained at River Plate and made the move to Bayern Munich in 2003, where he played until 2011. Later, the Argentine played for Malaga twice, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City and Espanyol.

As a player, Demichelis won 19 trophies: 4 titles in Argentina with River Plate, one La Liga title with Atletico Madrid, one Premier League title and two League Cups with Manchester City, 4 Bundesliga titles, 4 German Cups, one German Supercup and two German League Cups with Bayern Munich.

For Argentina's first national team, Demichelis made 51 caps, during which he scored two goals and provided a decisive assist.
