In recent days, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have carried out several successful attacks on bridges connecting Russian-occupied Crimea with the occupied areas of the Kherson region. “GORDON” tells which bridges were damaged by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and whether it will be possible to turn Crimea into an expensive and inconvenient island.
Which bridges are damaged?
In total, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked four bridges:
– On June 7 and 9, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the bridge in Chongar (this route was the most important for the invaders, since it is the shortest route from Crimea to the mainland);
– on the night of June 11, bridges across the North Crimean Canal in the area of Preobrazhenka and Mirny, a road bridge in the direction Perekop – Armyansk, as well as a bridge in the area of the village of Stavki were damaged.
After these attacks, all bridges were closed, except for the bridge in the area of the Armyansk checkpoint. According to the Crimean Wind Telegram channel, passenger cars are allowed to pass through it. The fact that the bridge in Armyansk continues to function was confirmed by the Russian-appointed “governor” of the occupied part of the Kherson region, collaborator Vladimir Saldo.

It appears that after the attacks in early June, there are no entire bridges remaining connecting the occupied peninsula to the Ukrainian mainland, which significantly complicates the logistics of occupying Russian forces in the region.
The assault regiment named after Dmitry Kotsyubailo, which participated in the strikes on logistics routes, also stated that “there are no entire bridges left for enemy logistics from the eastern region of Crimea.”
“A series of precision strikes was carried out on the night of June 11. Up to 50 trucks were concentrated in the affected area near the bridge in Armyansk, ready to be sent in the Gulyai-Polye direction. The bridge itself was disabled by Fire Point means and does not require repeated destruction – the enemy’s important logistics route is completely paralyzed,” the video description says.
The bridge in Chongar, according to the Ukrainian military, is also out of action for a long time. Although it is known that in some places the Russians are already trying to establish pontoon crossings.

When will Crimea become an island?
The commander of the Armed Forces of the Unmanned Systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Robert Brovdi, in an interview with Reuters, said that the Ukrainian campaign of strikes has already seriously disrupted Russian logistics in the south, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces plan to increase strikes in order to take full control of this logistics route within a month, and in the “near future” to completely isolate Crimea.
He added that Ukraine’s main goal is to make the stay of the Russian military in Crimea as difficult as possible, and to turn Crimea itself into an expensive and inconvenient island.
