The online gaming service Roblox has resumed operation in Russia. This was reported to the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation.
According to the department, the company has complied with the requirements of Russian legislation to ensure user safety. The day before, the Ministry of Digital Development announced that it had received guarantees from Roblox of compliance with Russian standards. After this, the ministry, together with Roskomnadzor, appealed to law enforcement agencies with a request to support the removal of restrictions on access to the platform.
Last December, Roskomnadzor linked the blocking of Roblox to the distribution of materials justifying extremist and terrorist activities, calls for violence and LGBT* propaganda. The Ministry of Digital Development noted that the foreign company has pledged to combat the spread of such content on the platform.
Roblox has also implemented additional measures to protect children. In particular, the service now has a mechanism for limiting access to games by age group.
*The LGBT movement is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia.
