In the Ermakovsky district, a 65-year-old former farm worker will appear in court, accused of fatally beating an acquaintance. The prosecutor's office of the Krasnoyarsk region reported this.
The crime occurred back in January 2008 on the territory of a livestock complex in the village of Nizhny Suetuk. According to investigators, the 30-year-old son of the farm owner remained on the farm to look after the property. There were two workers with him. After the shift, the men began to drink moonshine.
During the feast, a conflict arose between them over a bag of oats. The young man suspected the workers that they were going to steal the grain. The quarrel turned into a fight. One of the workers punched and kicked the man several times, and then hit him in the head with the handle of a pitchfork. The victim lost consciousness.
According to investigators, the men did not call for help. Instead, they dragged the still-living victim to the abandoned pool of an old sauna and went home. The next morning they returned to the farm and found that the victim had died from a traumatic brain injury.
After this, the participants in the events hid the traces of blood, removed the bloody snow and agreed to stick to one version of what happened. It was not possible to solve the crime without delay, and the proceedings in the case were suspended. After more than 18 years, the prosecutor's office demanded that the investigation be intensified. After additional investigative actions, the defendants spoke in detail about the events of that night.
The prosecutor confirmed charges against the 65-year-old former farm worker. He is accused of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm, which through negligence resulted in the death of the victim.
The criminal case will be considered by the Ermakovsky District Court.
