In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, prostate cancer ranks first among malignant neoplasms in men. Oncologists of the regional oncological dispensary reminded about this on the Day against Prostate Cancer.

In 2025, 1,908 residents of the region were diagnosed with this disease. In the overall structure of cancer incidence in the region, prostate cancer is in third place. It accounts for 11.2% of all cancer cases. More often, only malignant skin tumors and breast cancer are detected in the region.

Doctors note that in the early stages the disease usually has no symptoms. At the same time, problems with urination do not always indicate cancer, but are a reason to consult a doctor. Prostate cancer is most often diagnosed in men aged 65 to 69 years. It is rare in young patients and is usually associated with hereditary factors.

For diagnosis, an examination by a urologist, ultrasound of the prostate gland and a blood test for the PSA tumor marker are used. If a neoplasm is suspected, a biopsy is performed. Oncologists remind that it is important for men over 50 to regularly visit a urologist. If there are risk factors, this should be done after 45 years. Doctors also advise monitoring body weight, giving up smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, leading an active lifestyle and adding more plant foods to the diet.

The earlier the disease is detected, the higher the effectiveness of treatment. Preventive examinations and medical examinations help to find cancer in the early stages.
