Does your child go to school in September? You are entitled to this allowance to get you off to a good start

Parents and guardians can count on PLN 300 of one-time support for school supplies under the “Dobry Start” program. The benefit is available to all students starting the school year, regardless of family income.
The Good Start program is support that is intended to help parents prepare their children for the new school year. However, ZUS reminds you of the need to submit your application on time to benefit from this form of assistance.
Who can get PLN 300 per child? Details of the “Good Start” program
The “Dobry Start” program provides real support for families with expenses at the beginning of the school year. Many Poles wonder up to what age the “Dobry Start” program is valid. Assistance covers students up to 20 years of age.
For children with disabilities, the upper age limit is 24 years. Importantly, this age is calculated on a yearly basis.

An application for payment of benefits from the “Dobry Start” program may be submitted by:
- parents or legal guardians of the child;
- one of the parents if the child does not live with both parents;
- both parents, if they provide alternate care (in this case, each of them will receive PLN 150);
- adult students who are not dependent on their parents.
The benefit may also be granted to emancipated persons who have left foster care.

Applications for support from the “Dobry Start” program can be submitted from July 1 to November 30 only electronically – via the PUE ZUS portal, mZUS application, Emp@tia portal or electronic banking. Submitting an application in July or August guarantees payment of the benefit until September 30. If submitted later, the money will reach the family within two months.

The benefit is not available to children attending kindergarten, completing one-year kindergarten preparation (zero school) and students. The program is aimed only at primary and secondary school students.
It is worth remembering that the government was planning a change in the “Dobry Start” program in 2026, which could cover nearly 200,000 people. families. These are foreigners who would be entitled to support from this government program only if they meet the condition of professional activity in the territory of the Republic of Poland in the month preceding the month of submitting the application for establishing the right to this benefit.
