The Energy Regulated Gaz-System as a hydrogen transmission operator by 2026.


As the Energy Regulatory Office specified, on Tuesday, June 17, Gaz-System submitted to the regulator the applications provided for in the Act: for granting the certificate of independence and to give a deviation from the obligation to maintain independence in terms of legal form from the performance of activities related to the transmission of gas fuels. Consequently, submitting these applications GAZ-SYSTEM became the operator of a hydrogen transmission system in Poland until August 4, 2026. Energy explained.

Development of hydrogen transmission network
In turn, as Gaz-System informed, the submission of a certification application is the basis for further actions in the field of hydrogen transmission network development in Poland. In the near future the operator will focus on preparing the feasibility studies of national and cross -border hydrogen transmission network, which will be aimed at, among others Definition of technical parameters of the network, determining its technical enforceability, estimation of costs and proposing financing mechanisms. These activities are to be completed at the turn of 2026 and 2027 and will constitute the basis for making any decisions to move to the next stage in the implementation of individual investment projects – the operator said.
Belonging in 100 percent to the Treasury Gaz-System is responsible for the transmission of natural gas, manages the most important gas pipelines in Poland and is the owner of the LNG terminal in Świnoujście.
