BAC in Romanian. How to solve subject I correctly and where students lose the most points. A teacher's recommendations

Subject I of Romanian Language and Literature in the Baccalaureate exam is worth 50 points out of 90. It is the part of the exam that many students consider the most accessible, but teachers say that points are often lost here for seemingly minor reasons: incompletely formulated answers, missing citations, forgotten conclusions or omission of requirements. Cristina Văduva, Romanian language teacher at “Sf. Sava” National College in Bucharest, explains how subject I is constructed and what students must follow in order to get the maximum score.

The Romanian Language and Literature test is the first written test of the 2026 national Baccalaureate exam. In the summer session, it is scheduled for June 29, 2026 and is taken by all high school graduates, regardless of profile.

Subject I has an important stake: it is worth 50 points out of the 90 awarded for solving the paper, and the scale is applied very strictly. “Because the scale does not allow half measures, the student cannot receive 0.5 or 1.5 points. Either he meets the criterion and receives the full score, or he does not meet it and receives zero”, explains teacher Cristina Văduva. This is one of the reasons why subject I produces surprises when corrected. Even when the student understands the text and knows the subject matter, important points may be missed if the answer does not exactly follow the requirement stated in the topic. How subject I is built and what the evaluators look for in each exercise, the teacher explains, step by step, in the guide below.
