FCSB centre-back Siyabonga Ngezana (28) has undergone meniscus surgery. Mihai Stoica, the official of the red-blues, recently stated that the footballer will be absent for approximately six weeks.

Knee problems affected his performances in the recently concluded season. The South African postponed the operation for a while, a decision that attracted criticism and cost him the presence in several matches of the team.

Ngezana he played for the last time on May 18, in the defeat suffered by FCSB on Hermannstadt's field, score 0-2. Later, he was only a reserve in the play-off with Dinamo for the qualification in the Conference League preliminaries.

The defender published on social networks a photo after the surgery, accompanied by the message: “Recovery has already begun, see you soon!”.

Last season, Ngezana made 34 appearances for FCSB, totaling 2,852 minutes. He managed a goal and an assist.

Arriving at FCSB in 2023, the South African international recently extended his contract with the red-blue group. According to the specialist website Transfermarkt, he is valued at 2 million euros and has 11 caps for the South African national team. Throughout his career he has only played for Kaizer Chiefs.

Mihai Stoica announced that the recovery period will be at least six weeks, which means that Ngezana will miss the entire summer training and the first stages of the new season.

At the moment, coach Marius Baciu has six central defenders at his disposal: Siyabonga Ngezana, Joyskim Dawa, Andre Duarte, Mihai Popescu, Daniel Graovac and Andrei Dăncuș.

Ngezana will undergo a surgical intervention. I think it will stay around 6 weeks. He has a meniscus injury. Now it is explained. It's an incomprehensible thing, that he, probably thinking about the national team, forced, played like that, didn't play at the level he did.
