Iran fired missiles and drones at US bases in the Persian Gulf

Four missiles against US bases
According to Axios, which cites a representative of the American authorities, towards US military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan Iran has launched at least four ballistic missiles and several drones.
Iran's army said in an official statement that its forces carried out 21 attacks on American military facilities in the region. Tehran also claims that it shot down an MQ-9 drone belonging to the US military. The message also included information about a ballistic missile attack on the Al-Azrak base in Jordan, reports the New York Times.
Iran vs. USA. Conflicting versions of events
The version presented by Iran was questioned by a representative of the American administration, whose statement was quoted by the daily. He stated that Iran's reports of 21 attacks are false. The discrepancy between the messages from both sides makes it difficult to clearly assess the actual scale of the attacks.
Earlier, Iran reported that attacked the US Fifth Fleet stationed in Bahrain with drones. This action was presented as a response to the strikes carried out by US forces in southern Iran. Tehran presents its actions as a defensive reaction.
Emergency sirens over Bahrain
Bahrain's Ministry of Interior reported that authorities activated emergency sirens in the early hours of Wednesday. The spokesman for the king of Bahrain assured that the national air defense systems managed to repel attacks from Iran. One of the American officials in an interview with “NYT” described the situation as dynamic.
The Kuwaiti army also confirmed the activity of its anti-aircraft systems, which intercepted enemy objects in the airspace. Residents of this country heard alarm signals, and the authorities urged them to take refuge in safe places. The attack therefore affected at least two Persian Gulf countries at the same time.
