Siberians noted that they most often return taxes in case of a large purchase – this answer was given by 37% of respondents. In past years, funds were most often returned for treatment (40%), purchase of real estate (33%) and education (22%). About 40% use the personal account of the Federal Tax Service to fill out an application, and the ability to issue a deduction through the bank’s application motivates 34% of survey participants by the fact that money can be quickly received on a bank card.
What stops Siberians from applying for a tax deduction is lack of knowledge for which services a refund is possible, lack of time or a small amount (as answered by 20% of respondents).
In Russia as a whole, according to a survey, 25% of Russians file a tax deduction annually. Russians' interest in digital solutions for filing documents for tax deductions is growing. A third of respondents are ready to use banking services if they save time, 20% – if the service reminds them to submit documents, another 10% – if the documents are pre-checked by specialists.
Banks are already offering similar solutions. Thus, at the end of 2025, VTB clients received about 10 billion rubles in tax deductions for housing and mortgages using the online document submission service.
