Over one hundred people participated on Saturday night, in the nation's market in front of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMF) Iasi, at an event organized by Declic and Reset associations, in the memory of the children who died at the “Sfânta Maria” Hospital in Iasi, following the infection with the Bacteria Marcecens Serratia, according to News.ro.
People have kept a moment of silence in the memory of the children killed and wrote with the help of hundreds of candles the message “Nosocomial killed”.
The manifestation took place in silence, people displaying a huge banner with the text “We die for days from intraspital infections. Report the truth daily!”
“The death of the seven children from Iasi is not statistical, but a wound that will never close for parents. And proof that the system hides too much and too often the truth. The Ministry of Health forces the hospitals to report periodically, but when the lives are lost with days, it is not enough.
“All deaths in hospitals in Iasi spent in the last 15 years due to nosocomial infections should be investigated,” a man present at the event.
Another participant said that these cases are repeated in Romania, but that no one is held responsible.
Seven children died after taking a bacterium in the hospital, in Iasi
Seven children who were admitted to the ATI section of the Hospital in Iași died in September after being infected with the Bacteria Marcescens. According to the Minister of Health, who sent the control body to the hospital in Iasi, the deceased children also suffered from other serious conditions. Thus, the exact causes of the deaths are to be established by forensic doctors.
Following the control made at the hospital, the teams sent by Alexandru Rogobete found that there is no measure regarding the Marcecens Service in the Personnel Guide for patients in the case of certain infections.
