Artificial intelligence used in the UK housing crisis. Prince William's announcement

Prince William has announced that he will deploy artificial intelligence (Ai) tools at his foundation dealing with the housing crisis, according to AFP.

The heir to the throne of the United Kingdom announced on Wednesday that the Homewards foundation has launched an initiative to improve the use of data with the aim of detecting “clear warning signs long before” that a person will become homeless, writes Agerpres.

Thus, AI tools would take care of sharing data about a person's finances, social contributions and health between different institutions.

Becoming homeless “is not a fatality, but a completely unavoidable, predictable situation,” Prince William said at Tech Week in London.

It is possible to “mobilize enormous volumes of data,” added Dan Hughes of LandAid, another partner of the Homewards foundation, who also spoke at Tech Week in London. But “care must be taken that the use of this information does not affect private life,” he added.

If the “data and technologies that we can implement” will allow “people to stay in their homes, to keep their jobs, in their communities, with their family, with their school”, then this is “infinitely preferable”, Prince William explained.
